The most common source of friction between a client and their attorney is not the outcome but the expectation. So we set out in writing what the engagement includes, what it does not, and which third-party costs — registry fees, stamp duties, notarial fees — run separately.
Filings with a foreseeable scope are quoted as a fixed amount. Proceedings whose course cannot be anticipated are quoted by stages, and you approve each one before we move on.

Which areas of law do your services cover?
Corporate and commercial, civil and estates, criminal, employment and tax law, plus family and immigration, which have their own pages given the volume of inquiries they attract. If a matter falls outside our scope, we say so in the initial consultation rather than accepting the engagement.
How do I open a matter with the firm?
With a message. Write to us by email or WhatsApp with a short description of the situation and, if you have them, the related documents. We book the initial consultation — in person at our zone 9 offices or by video call — and from that come the work plan and the written quote.
How long does a typical matter take to resolve?
Filings with a set procedure, such as registering a company or a property conveyance, are measured in weeks and depend mostly on registry timelines. Court proceedings depend on the court's caseload, the evidence to be presented and any appeals the other side brings, and no date can be committed to. We give you a realistic range in the initial consultation.
Do you serve clients who live outside Guatemala?
Yes, and it is a meaningful part of our practice. We work with Guatemalans in the United States and elsewhere, and with foreign nationals holding interests in Guatemala. Matters are handled through a power of attorney granted and legalized at the relevant Guatemalan consulate, with video consultations and digital copies of everything filed.
Is the initial consultation free of charge?
It depends on the matter and its complexity. Where the consultation carries a fee we tell you before booking it, never afterwards. There will never be a charge you have not been told about and approved in advance.
